I'm so happy to see Luke Russert getting involved. I trusted his father to be objective and honest when reporting on political issues, something that has been missing from ALL television networks since Tim Russerts unfortunate passing. Lukes father raised him to be honest, and on the outset he has my trust. Keep it real Luke! It doesn't matter if a candidate is Republican or Democrat, report the facts, ask the tough question and demand an answer to it. I'll be turning to Luke Russert for my political reports.

I sincerely hope to see more of Luke Russert in the coming months and years. After watching both interviews I tried to think of which candidate he may have been favoring, but couldn't tell. As the previous post from Joe said, that is something missing from most interviewers and networks. I also tried to think of another 23 year old who could interview the two presidential candidates and not be darn nervious.
Whether it is Sportscenter or Meet the Press, I am excited to be able to start watching a new face with great ideals and history behind him.
If NBC News had a brain (which is a 50/50 shot) they would keep Luke close.

At 51, it is uncommon to see such a young man with the poise, intelligence, drive and commitment that Luke Russert has. His reporting is terrific, and his blogs are very helpful. Hey Luke, I speak as someone a generation just ahead of you and would love to pick your brain sometime on these issues, since I work full-time with high school/college age men and women. Two things struck me on these interviews. First is on sacrifice. Again, keeping in mind the age of people I work with, I believe that "sacrifice" is a lost art. In some ways the economic woes, I think, could be a good thing, once we get beyond the blame game of politics. Most young people are handed anything they want, which is great; you want to give the next generation more than you had, but at the same time, it doesn't teach them about earning what they get, dedication, hard work. Secondly, regarding the unity that followed 9/11. I remember it well because I work with the church and it really did bring people together. I believe that our immediate reaction, of war and violence, did not help foster that unity. I wait for the day when this country can look at itself and see where it has gone wrong. Most other nations and peoples don't want what we have, if our ego can handle that, if anything, they get angered over the way we abuse and are irresponsible with the poewr that is given. Maybe that is a place to start the next time you interview these candidates...and push for an honest answer that can rise above the political games that we often witness during this season.
